Mrs. Mary L. Reusch, 85, of Ankeny and formerly of Burlington died at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Kennybrook Village in Grimes. Born December 4, 1926 in Hunnewell, Missouri, she was the daughter of Oscar and Augusta Petri Seawalt. On March 24, 1951 she married Paul Reusch in Fort Madison. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1985. After high school and later in Burlington Mrs. Reusch worked as a nurse. During World War II she was a welder in Portland, Oregon at the Navy shipyards. She went on to be the event coordinator and hostess for the Elks Club, owned the retail shop New to You on Jefferson Street, was hostess for Howard Johnson's and also worked at Champion Spark Plug, Sylvania and Winegard. Mrs. Reusch loved all crafts from flower arranging to making doll clothes and embroidery. She baked, decorated and sold cakes and enjoyed collectibles, collecting and making ceramics and listening to country music. Survivors include one daughter, Sheila (Steve) Leavitt of Ankeny; daughter-in-law, Tess Reusch of South Carolina; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; son, Monty Reusch; one sister, Vera; and two brothers, Leo and Kenny. Friends may call from noon until 8 p.m. Friday, October 5th, at Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends following the Recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Reusch will be 9 a.m. Saturday, October 6th, at St. Paul's Catholic Church. The Rev. Bruce DeRammelaere will be the celebrant. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for SS John and Paul Catholic Church..
