Obituary

LouElla Remmers, 85, of Burlington, died at Great River Medical Center on Friday, April 10, 2009, at 1:55 a.m. LouElla was born on April 27, 1923, in Auburn, Nebraska, the daughter of Herman and Christine Bohling Lunzmann. She married V. Merle Remmers on December 28, 1942, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn, Nebraska. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of PEO Chapter HU, served on the YWCA Board of Directors, Hospital Auxiliary Board, and was a Red Cross volunteer at the hospital. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. LouElla is survived by her husband, V. Merle Remmers; one son, Ronald (Nancy Lee) Remmers of Burlington; one daughter, Nancy (James) Sheerer of Cedar Falls, Iowa; six grandchildren, Rob (Aubrey), Anne, Jennifer, Robert, Anna, and Sara; three great-grandchildren, Angela, Reagan, and Maddie; two sisters, Mildred Needham and Margie Merritt, both of Lincoln, Nebraska; one brother, Leland (Pat) Lunzmann of Auburn, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and five brothers, Otto, Victor, Arnold, Herman, and Walter Lunzmann. The funeral service for LouElla Remmers will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14, at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Pastor Erick Swanson officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Prugh's Chapel on Monday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. A memorial has been established for Trinity Lutheran Church Scholarshp Fund and PEO Chapter HU Educational Loan Fund.
