Mr. Richard Joe Belsley, 91, of Burlington died at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 6, 1924 in Morton, Illinois he was the son of Joe B. and Emilie (Schmidtgall) Belsley. On March 10, 1965 he married Eva Fern Schwind in Biggsville, Illinois.
Mr. Belsley was a graduate of Crandall-Morton High School in Morton and an Army veteran of the Korean War serving as an electrician at the 14th Field Hospital as a corporal. He was a farmer and district manager for the Soil Service for 33 years, retiring in 2001.
Mr. Belsley was a member of Oakville-Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church, V.F.W., AmVets and the National Farmers Organization. He also loved to travel.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Eva Fern Belsley of Burlington; two sons, Donald A. Belsley of San Jose, California and Robert B. (Nicole) Belsley of Newport News, Virginia; two daughters, Nancy C. Belsley of Burlington and Karen D. (Chris) Moore of Marion, Iowa; three grandchildren, Michael Belsley and Lydia and Elise Moore; and two brothers, Kenneth Belsley of Eureka, Illinois and Glenn Belsley of Morton, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service for Mr. Belsley will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15th, at Lunning Chapel with the Ministers of the Church officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 9 until 10:15 a.m. prior to the service.
