Donald L. Shepherd, 54, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Tuesday, Sept. 3,2002, in Pittsburgh. Born May 14, 1948, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert and Frances Bow-man Shepherd. Mr. Shepherd graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis, moved to Parkersburg, W.Va., in April 1981 and began his chiropractic practice in June 1981. He was a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran, where he served as a divisional sniper. In addition to other awards, he also was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Citation Ribbon, Navy Commendation Medal, three Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He attended the Broadway Nazarene Church, was an avid jogger, and loved exotic cars and snow skiing. Survivors include his mother of Burlington; his wife of 22 years, Marjorie Bice Shepherd; one son, Jason Shepherd of Parkersburg; one daughter. Crystal Shepherd of Parkersburg; two sisters, Linda Fenton and Vickie Shepherd, both of Burlington; one brother, Tim Shepherd of Burlington; one sister-in-law and 13 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother. Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Shepherd will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Custer officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52 and the Marine Corps League will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
