M. Louvae Reddick-Black, age 98, of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Washington County Hospital following a short illness. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2012 at the Day Lounge of Halcyon House with services conducted by Pastor Jim Stiles. Private family interment will take place at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington at a later date. Memorials have been established for the Halcyon House Health Center Activities Fund or the First United Methodist Church Music Fund in Burlington, Iowa. Online condolences may be sent for Louvae's family through the web at www.jonesfh.com Louvae was born January 14, 1914 in West Branch, Iowa the daughter of Louis S. and Eva (Dean) Penrose. She attended school in Muscatine, Iowa graduating in 1931. She was united in marriage to Lou Reddick on February 13, 1938 in Muscatine, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1988. She was later married to Floyd Black on August 18, 1991 in Burlington, Iowa. Louvae has lived in Washington, Iowa since June of 2009. She lived most of her life in Burlington, Iowa and has wintered at the Fountain of the Sun in Mesa, Arizona since the mid 1970's. Louvae worked for the Muscatine Journal as Society Editor and Feature Writer for many years. She and her husband Lou, later managed App's Music Store and owned and operated Reddick's Music Center in Burlington for ten years. Following her retirement, she and her husband Floyd played music professionally as "The Entertainers" where Louvae played keyboard. They performed on ten different cruise ships and at Sardi's in New York City. They performed weekly at Martini's and Pzazz Supper Clubs in Burlington, Iowa as well as Painted Mountain Golf Resort in Mesa, Arizona. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Burlington for over fifty years. Louvae was a charter member of the Treble Cleff Club in Burlington, Iowa and belonged to PEO Chapter NH in Burlington and PEO Chapter J in Washington. She loved music, writing, fishing and playing piano for her friends at Halcyon House.Louvae is survived by her daughter, Judi Fredrick and husband Bill of Washington, Iowa; grandson, Todd Fredrick and wife Kim and their children Will and Lauren of Malvern, Pennsylvania; and granddaughter, Alicia Fredrick and her fiancé, Jeff Cramm of Boulder, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband Lou Reddick in 1988, and husband Floyd Black in 2010.
