Bonnie Jean Eaton, 81, of Burlington, IA, died at 10:08 PM Sunday, December 25, 2011, at her home. Born September 1, 1930, in Burlington, IA, she was the daughter of Frank and Norma Louck Broeg. On September 12, 1948, she married Robert William Eaton in Morning Sun, IA. He died January 18, 1998. Bonnie worked for Broeg Heating and Air Conditioning as a bookkeeper. She was a well-known seamstress in the area, and performed alterations for J.S. Schramm Co. as well as seamstress work out of her home. She was a member of the Burlington High School class of 1949. She was a member of Parkside First Baptist Church in Burlington. She was very active in her church, serving as a Deaconess, and Chairperson of the Memorial Committee. She enjoyed her grandchildren, loved sewing and emailing her three sisters. Survivors include two sons, David William (Kay) Eaton of Ames, IA, and James Robert Eaton; one daughter, Jeanne Ann (Steve) Bell of Burlington; four grandchildren, Andrea (Paul) Warren, Alaina (Russell) Nelson, Eric Bell, and Rachel (Jeff) Bott; three sisters, Norma Jenkins of Rolling Hills, CA, Dora Mae Philpott of Bothell, WA, and Mary Lou Hummell of Orange, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers. Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Eaton will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 30, 2011, at Parkside First Baptist Church with Pastor Rob Carleton and Reverend Tyrone Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the church following the interment. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Parkside First Baptist Church.
