Kahlan John Ray, 25, of Burlington, died at 5:35 AM Saturday, March 26, 2016, in Burlington
Born April 22, 1990, in Burlington, he was the son of Warren Tucker Garrett "Tuck" and Michelle Ray.
Kahlan was an auto mechanic.
He graduated from Burlington High School in 2008. He furthered his education at U.T.I. of Chicago in 2009.
Kahlan was very creative and a mid-century modern enthusiast. He enjoyed working with wood, mostly reclaiming walnut; he put together a woodworking shop in his home. He also enjoyed being outdoors, rock hunting, skateboarding, disc golfing, riding bikes, attending outdoor music festivals, listening to local bands with his friends, and bargain hunting at flea markets.
Survivors include his parents; special friend, Lyzz Inghram; four sisters, Shawna (Dan) Purdum, Ingrid (Jaime) Gerling and Brooke (Justin) Marland all of Burlington, and Taletha (Nick Koett) Garrett of West Burlington; one brother, Seth (Sam Hellberg) Garrett of Burlington; several aunts and uncles; many nieces and nephews; and his maternal grandfather, John Ray of Galesburg, IL.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother; his paternal grandparents; and one uncle
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Tracey Burgess concluding the visitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Eagles Club following the visitation.
Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory following the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
A memorial has been established.
