Mr. Robert S. Ramsey, 98, of Iowa City and formerly of Burlington, died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Lantern Park of Iowa City.
Born November 21, 1914 in Richmond, KY, he was the son of Robert F. and Ollie May Shryock Ramsey. On October 5, 1946 he married Hazel M. Josey in Shreveport, LA. She preceded him in death November 4, 2010.
Mr. Ramsey graduated from Purdue University in 1936. He was a Division Manager for Mason-Hanger for 43 Years at I.A.A.P., retiring in 1983. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Burlington where he was very active until moving to Iowa City. Mr. Ramsey enjoyed playing golf and collecting antique clocks.
Survivors include one son, Robert F. Ramsey of Iowa City; one daughter, Susan Senchuk of Iowa City; six grandchildren, one great grandchild and one sister, Anna Deane Wolf of Walnut Creek, CA.
Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
The graveside committal service for Mr. Ramsey will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 13th, in Aspen Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Deb Kinney officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Lunning Chapel.
