Verna Mae "Pete" Rauhaus Racey, 69, of 1108 N. Eighth St., died at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1995, at her home. Born Dec. 13, 1926, at Winthrop, Minn., she was the daughter of Ernest and Esther B. Frank Peterson. She married Raymond P. "Fuzz" Rauhaus Sept. 16, 1945, in Burlington. He died March 3, 1988. She later married Marvin D. Racey Feb. 27, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nev. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. Paul's Women's Guild, Birthright and Women of the Moose. She was a sales associate at Schramms before retiring. Survivors include her husband, Marvin, of Burlington; three daughters, Terri Rauhaus and Jill Stanbury, both of Burlington, and Chris Vanerstrom of Danville; six grandchildren; her mother of Burlington; and a brother, Lyle Peterson of Burlington. Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by her father, a brother and two grand children. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday followed by family visitation until 8:30 p.m. at Prugh's Chapel. The funeral for Mrs. Racey will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Rev. Carl Leveling officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Burlington area schools.
