Virgil A. Putney is not buried at AGCA, his remains were left in the care of the University of IA.
Virgil A. Putney, 73 of West Chester died Sunday, June 2, 1974, at the long term care center in Washingotn. He had been in failing health.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Jones Funeral Home. Mr. Putney donated his body to the University of Iowa for research purposes.
Mr. Putney was born Oct. 16, 1900, in Stronghurst, Ill., a son of Bert and Florence McIntyre Putney. He married Jessie Garrison June 23, 1920, at Oquawka, Ill.
He had been a security guard at Burlington Ordnance Plant until his retirement.
Surviving are his wife; four sons, Glenn of Dunedin, Fla., Richard of Omaha, Neb., Gary of Coral Springs, Fla., and Dennis of San Joes, Calif;, one daughter, Mrs. Clovis McClain of Grand Prairie, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a brother Delford of Cassville, Wis.
