Millie Bell, 100, of Burlington, died at 10:12 AM, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Great River Medical Center.
Born July 26, 1916, in Carthage, IL, she was the daughter of John Merle and Ruby Ethel Dorothy Hart. On February 26, 1945, she married James W. "Jim" Bell in Monroe City, MO. He died on November 24, 2013.
She was a 1936 graduate of West Point High School.
Millie worked at Sheaffer Pen Corporation, I.A.A.P. Ordinance Plant, Ross Manufacturing, and Winegard Company.
She was a member of Parkside Baptist Church. She was a past president of the Democratic Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Democrat Hall of Fame, and the Organic Garden Club. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and organizing the craft shows at the auditorium the first Saturday and Sunday of December.
Survivors include three sons, James (Cheryl) Bell Jr. of Danville, Wayne Bell of Burlington, and Darrell (Rose) Bell of Lomax, IL; two daughters, Jean (Gary) Reeves of Burlington, and Susie (Tom) Albert of West Concord, MN; one sister, Frances Hart of Fort Madison; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; three brothers; three sons, Kenny Bell, Daniel Bell, and Ernie Bell; one daughter, Janice Schneider; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bell will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 28, 2017, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Marshall Jackman and Rev. Ron Jewett officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at Parkside Baptist Church following the burial.
A memorial has been established in her name.
