Robert Burton Prugh Sr., 83 of rural Madison Avenue, Burl- ington, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1996, at his home. Born Dec. 23, 1912, in Burlington, he was the son of Norval Francis and Vale en Ida Hertzler Prugh. On Oct.13, 1938, he married Marjorie Mary Coulter in Burlington. Mr. Prugh was the funeral director and owner of Prugh Funeral Service, which he operated for 52 years.He was a member of the BPOE, Burlington Golf Club, Southeast Iowa Astronomy Club, Farm Bureau, Sierra Club, Coast Guard Auxiliary, a lifetime member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association, Shoquoquon Boat Club, Chamber of Commerce. a 50-year
member of the Patriot Masonic Lodge, Antique Airplane Association, Third Alarmers, Navy League and a past board member of the Iowa Funeral Directors He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and was a
member of Christ Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife; one son, Robert Burton Prugh Jr. of Burlington; one daughter, Patlence Spire of Bethesda, Md.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Marianne Ahrold of Burlington and Sherry Reynolds of Arlington, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Friends may call Friday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Prugh will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Prugh's Chapel With the Rev.Pat Genereaux officiating Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Hope Haven Area Development Center, Shoquoquon Boat Club and Southeast Iowa Astronomy Club.
