Joanne Eleanor Preuss, 80, of West Burlington, died August 20, 2008, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 15, 1928, in Savannah, Ill., she was the daughter of Leroy and Florence Johnson Glenn. On March 9, 1952, she married William "Ted" Preuss in Burlington. Mrs. Preuss worked at Benner Tea Co., Sylvania, Neisners, and for many years in the office of Montgomery Ward. She was a hair dresser. She was a 1945 graduate of Burlington High School and attended cosmetology school. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Martha Kruse of Kearney, Neb., Nancy Preuss of Iowa City, and Barb Preuss of West Des Moines; one sister, Jeanette Rohde of Burlington; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Preuss will be at 10:30 a.m. Saurday at Messiah Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Margaret Casper officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
