Mrs. Barbara A. Poisel, 83, of Iowa City and formerly of Burlington, died 7:29 p.m. September 1, 2014 at Legacy Point Assisted Living in Iowa City, IA.
Born on August 25, 1931 in Abingdon, Illinois, she was the daughter of Herman L. and Ruby A. (Herren) Ralston. On September 19, 1954 she married William A. Poisel. He preceded her in death on June 20, 1988.
Mrs. Poisel was a 1950 graduate of Burlington High School. She had moved to Burlington with her family in 1942 and after also living in Cedar Rapids and Davenport, returned to Burlington. She worked at IRC for five years and at Hertz Car Rental for 10 years from 1969 - 1979.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Federated Women of Christ Church, Eagles Auxiliary and was a Bridge Club member for 23 years. She enjoyed sewing, traveling and dancing and loved playing Bridge. She was a distinguished lady who had an eye for quality clothing and fabric.
Survivors include two daughters, CeLinda (Jim) Adam of Kalona and Peggy (Greg) Gingerich of Iowa City; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, LeRoy Ralston.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, September 5th, at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral service for Mrs. Poisel will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 6th, at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Patricia Cashmann officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Christ Episcopal Church.
