Kara Poffenbarger Brookhart, 31, of Burlington, died at 11:10 AM Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born January 8, 1983, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Jim and Mary Huppenbauer Poffenbarger. On November 19, 2005, she married Clinton J. Brookhart in Burlington. They later divorced.
Kara was a CNA.
She was a 2001 graduate of Burlington High School.
She enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, music, movies and especially spending time with her children.
Survivors include her father, Jim (Tracy) Poffenbarger of Burlington; her mother, Mary Poffenbarger of Burlington; two sons, Brock Brookhart and Grady Brookhart, both of Burlington; one brother, Brent Poffenbarger of Burlington; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Visitation will be from noon until 6:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Thielen Funeral Home.
The Graveside Committal Service for Mrs. Brookhart will be 11:00 AM Monday, May 5, 2014, at Aspen Grove Cemetery with Reverend Terry Vance officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for her children.
