Wanda M. Philpott, 88, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at The Kensington. She was born on July 29, 1922, in Burlington, IA, to Reuben and Vivian Schoeneborn Hippe. On January 11, 1942, she married Max I. Philpott in Burlington. He passed away on August 14, 1997. Wanda was a homemaker. She was a member of Santa Fe United Methodist Church for 60 years. She was a member of AARP, NARVE, the Ladies Auxiliary of RR Trainmen, the West Point VFW Auxiliary, and the North Lee County Historical Society. Wanda was a devoted mother and friend. She was a Camp Fire Girl leader, a Cub Scout Den Mother, President of Richardson School PTA, and a Sunday School Teacher. She will be remembered for her unselfish generosity, her delightful sense of humor, and for her love of red birds and all things relating to Autumn. Her phone call and greeting card ministries reached all of her family and friends. Survivors include one son, Michael (Marilyn) Philpott of Sandy, Utah; one daughter, Sharon (Jan) Haugen of Ames, IA; four grandchildren, Chris, Erik, Ethan, and Meredith; and four great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother; two nieces, and one nephew. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Santa Fe United Methodist Church, with Rev. Brenda Goodall officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
