Obituary
Robert L. Pfeiff, 76, of West Burlngton, died at 4:35 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008, at his home in West Burlington. Born February 7, 1932, in Burlington, he was the son of Glenn G. and Lucy V. Gesling Pfeiff. On September 2, 1955, he married Catherine JoAnne Phillips in West Burlington. She died April 8, 2008. Mr.Pfeiff worked as a fireman at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 25 years, retiring in August of 1993. Before that, he had worked in the West Burlington Railroad Shops for 18 years, Fischer Roofing in West Burlington and Midwest Biscuit. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1949, and was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He was affiliated with St. Paul's United Church of Christ in West Burlington, and was a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge No. 579, Eagles Aerie No. 150 for 58 years, Malta Lodge No. 318 AF & AM, 32nd Degree Mason and Shriners KAABA Temple, also a past West Burlington Fire Department volunteer and Sea and Cub Scout leader. He enjoyed playing pool. Survivors include three children, Stuart Pfeiff of Nevada City, Calif., and Lori Campbell and Chris Pfeiff, both of West Burlington; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and one brother. There will be no formal visitation. Friends may call from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel. The graveside funeral and burial for Mr. Pfeiff will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Dean Moberg Officiating. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice in West Burlington.
