Mrs. Laveta Margaret Pfeiff, 89, of Burlington died at 10:17 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Blair House.
Born December 27, 1925 in Denmark, Iowa, she was the daughter of Graydon A. and Marjorie Elisabeth (Gross) Siegrist. On September 12, 1946 she married Ermal E. Pfeiff. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1986.
Mrs. Pfeiff was a Burlington High School graduate. During World War II she worked at I.A.A.P. and went on to work in many positions including Sylvania, Champion Spark Plug and GE. In later years she was a seamstress for Melissa's at the mall and had her own home seamstress business. She loved gardening and flowers.
Mrs. Pfeiff was a past member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Marlayna M. (Doug Rogers) Stathis of Pleasanton, California, Timothy T. (Tanty) Pfeiff of Jacksonville, Florida, Terra T. (Todd Wade) Waggener of Burlington, and Andrew A. (Stephanie Allen) Pfeiff of Lincoln, Nebraska; nine great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Barry and George Brown; and one sister-in-law, Beverly Siegrist.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary Pfeiff; twin sister, Lavilla M. Barry; sister, Shirley Brown; and brothers, Wendell Siegrist and Merlin Siegrist.
Friends may call from noon until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Pfeiff will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 16th, in Aspen Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating.
Memorials have been established for Special Needs Foundation and Great River Hospice.
