Ora Evelyn "Evie" Brent Pfau, 83, of Burlington, died at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at her home. Born February 4, 1926, in Fort Madison, she was the daughter of Donald and Fay Galbraith Brent. On March 16, 1950, she married Jack Pfau in Gladstone, IL. Mrs. Pfau was a homemaker. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She knitted 610 caps for babies at Burlington Area hospital, crocheted about 148 lap robes for nursing homes and crocheted bed spreads. She enjoyed needle work and peanut M&Ms. Survivors include her husband; one daughter; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Roy Brent of Oquawka, IL; one sister, Goldie Huffman of Monmouth, IL; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, her parents, one sister and four brothers. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Pfau will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Terry Vance officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for First Church of the Nazarene and Des Moines County Humane Society.
