Eva Mae Peterson, 94, of Burlington, died 5:55 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Prairie Ridge and Rehabilitation in Mediapolis.
Born on August 5, 1922 in Milford, Iowa, she was the daughter of Joseph and Leta (Mason) Brandstetter. She married Donald Peterson on May 5, 1953 in Burlington. He died October 31, 2000.
She was a graduate of Bode High School where she was the Salutatorian. Mrs. Peterson was a homemaker and worked for both Sylvania and Midwest Biscuit. She was a member of First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ. She enjoyed watching soap operas, scrapbooking and dancing. In her younger years she went to New York to dance to Guy Lombardo.
Survivors include her two daughters; Roxanne (Rodney) Lipper of Burlington and Linda Atha of Dubuque; six grandchildren, Nicholas Atha, Austin Atha, Jim Merritt, John Merritt, Velva Jean Trapp and Jesse Brill and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one son Carl Merritt.
The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Peterson will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 22nd at Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Will Ryan will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 22nd at Lunning Chapel. Procession will then follow to Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for First Christian Church ~ Disciples of Christ.
