Hollis Wayne "Pete" Peterson, 86, of rural New London, died at 6:20 a.. Sunday, July 11, 1999, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant. Born Apil 4, 1913, in Ridgeway, Minn., he was the son of Henry and Selma Olson Peterson. On June 27, 1941, he married Agnes A. Scherer in Kahoka, Mo. Mr. Peterson was a member of First United Methodist Church in Burlington, Des Moines Masonic Lodge No. 1 A.F. & A.M. and Operating Engineers Union. He attended school in Ridgeway. Survivors include his wife; one son, Larry Wayne Peterson of rural New London; one brother, Claire Peterson of Huston, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers. Open visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Thursday. The funeral for Mr. Peterson will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. David Rogula officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church, Danville Care Center, and Des Moines Masonic Lodge No. 1 A.F. & A.M.
