Ellen Lynn Payne, 68, of Burlington, died 7:05 a.m. Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Forest Hills Rehabilitation Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
Born January 2, 1943 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Louis Melvin and Viola M. Bowman Stoecker.
She married Clair Eugene "Gene" Payne on September 15, 1962, in Burlington, and was a loving wife and mother. He preceded her in death January 23, 2005. She was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School and a member of First United Church of Christ and the Red Hat Club. She enjoyed sewing and stained glass projects and was a frequent hostess of tea and dress-up parties with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher (Susan) Payne of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nicholas (Julie) Payne of Euless, Texas; one daughter, Kelly (Bryan) Thurman of Irving, Texas; one sister, Phyllis (Paul) Roxlau of Burlington; and one brother, Louis Stoecker, of Burlington.
Ellen also is survived by seven grandchildren, Kelsey Hannah, Caitlin Payne, and Gillian Payne of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Austin and Emma Thurman of Irving, Texas; and Claire and Matthew Payne of Euless, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Gabriel Lantz, of Enid, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The funeral service for Mrs. Payne will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 4th, in Lunning Chapel. Celebrants will be Ms. Lisa Mosley and the Rev. Susan Payne. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3rd, in Lunning Chapel.
