H. Arlene Paule, 86, of Burlington, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, April 19, 2010, at Great River Medical Center-Klein Center in Burlington. Born June 15, 1923, in Harrisburg Township, Van Buren County, she was the daughter of Lacy Ola and Nellie Muriel Brombaugh Wallingford. On June 15, 1958, she married Philip Arthur Paule in Mount Pleasant. Mrs. Paule was a homemaker. She taught school four years in rural Van Buren County, worked 12 years at Van Buren County Courthouse in Keosauqua, and was secretary to the president of Iowa Wesleyan College for three years. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, taught Sunday School for 10 years, and was head of Women's Fellowship for two years. She also was a member of Chapter HU of P.E.O., B.P.W., King's Daughters', and What-So-Ever Club. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Susan K. Sundberg of Olympia, Wash., and Joan M. McGee of Peoria, Ill.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Vandenberg of Minneapolis, and Erma Cummings of O'Fallon, Ill.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral for Mrs. Paule will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jane Willan officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. A memorial has been established for Zion United Church of Christ.
