Lula Mae Parsons, 82, of Danville, died at 2:55 p.. Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Fort Madison Health Care Center in Fort Madison. Born Sept. 30, 1916, in Junction City, Ky., she was the daughter of Buford Menefee and LuVena Lee Cooley Burkett. On Nov. 10, 1934, she married Edwin Marshall Parsons in Burlington. He died Jan. 25, 1995. Mrs. Parsons was raised by her mother and her stepfather, Joseph Harry Robbins Sr., and attended Danville High School. She was a homemaker, and did kitchen and custodial work for the Danville School District. She was of the Baptist faith. She was a peacemaker and enjoyed family vacations with her husband and children, and later with her grand- children. Survivors include two sons, Keith Parsons of Fort Madison, and Ronald Parsons of West Burlington; two daughters, Janet Nedrebo of Danville, and Marilyn Nauman of Burlington; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Virginia Timmerman, Nellie Hill, and Maxine Corman, all of Burlington, and Inez Frank of Niota, Ill. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, an infant daughter, one son-in-law, two brothers, and two sisters, one in infancy. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Parsons will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Lester Smith officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
