Mary Elizabeth Parker, 92, of Burlington, died at 9:11 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016 after a two and a half year stay at Bickford Cottage.
Born September 28, 1923, in Washington, IA, she was the daughter of Roy and Jesse Johnston Wells. On November 12, 1944, she married Robert Edward Parker in Burlington. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1993.
She graduated from Washington High School Class of 1941 and Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN.
Mary was an X-Ray lab Technician in her early years at Mercy Hospital and a homemaker.
She was a member of West Burlington Christian Church and earlier of Oakville Community Bible Church.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, baking, bowling, her pets, Bible Studies, playing Trivia, and singing with the Praise Singers. Mary was an avid Cardinal fan and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include son, Steven (Teresa) Parker of Burlington; two daughters, Patti (Bruce) Scott and Jan (Scott) Zajac of St. Louis, MO; eight grandchildren, Stephanie Keene, Laura Nikols, Brecky Blackwell, Zachary Scott, Sarah and Rachel Parker, and Rich and Jim Zajac; seven great-grandchildren; three daughter-in-law's, Lori and Roberta Parker of Burlington and Kathy Moore of Colorado.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Bradley Parker, one brother Keith Wells and one sister Gail Bosworth.
The Going Home Ceremony for Mrs. Parker will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 6th, 2016 at Lunning Chapel, with the Pastor Steven Parker officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 12 noon until 7 p.m. at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7 p.m.
The family would prefer memorials be given to West Burlington Christian Church, Oakville Community Bible Church, or Great River Hospice.
