Clair E. Palmer, 64 of Stronghurst died at 1:15 p.m. Friday February 17, 2012 at his home. He was born October 7, 1947 in Letts, Iowa, the son of Edward and Margaret Evans Palmer. On January 14, 1968, he married Norma Jeanne McGraw in Cairo, Iowa. Mr. Palmer had worked at Klein Manufacturing in Burlington, Iowa for several years. He also owned and operated Palmer's Wrecker Service and Repair Garage in Raritan, Illinois for many years. Survivors include his wife, one daughter- Lori (John) Lewis of Stronghurst, one son- Tony (Susan) Palmer of Keokuk, Iowa, five grandchildren- Shawndra (Steven) Spoores, Shannon (Robert) Watts, Ashley (Garrett) Bowen, Jennifer (Cameron) LeMaster, Tyler Lewis, eight great grandchildren, seven brothers- Faylon Palmer of Winfield, IA, Gary Palmer of Afton, IA., Francis Palmer and Robert Palmer of Muscatine, IA., Harlan Palmer of Washington, IA., Carl Palmer of Tennessee., Maynard Palmer of Morning Sun, IA., six sisters- Gladys Beanblossom and Gloria Jean Johnson of Washington, IA., Dale Steward of Mediapolis, IA., Loretta Andrews of Burlington, IA., Juanita Carlson of New Port Richey, FL., and Nadine Walker of Wapello, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother- Dewayne Palmer. Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, Illinois. The graveside service for Mr. Palmer will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday February 20, 2012 in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa, with Steve Palmer officiating.
