Evelyn Sue Palmer, 92 died Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Burlington Care Center, Burlington, Iowa. She was born December, 24, 1922 at Lakefield, MN the daughter of Andrew and Ann Handzus Zallaha. Evelyn married Gordon Clayton Palmer December 4, 1941 in Lakefield, MN.
She was a homemaker. Evelyn attended rural school through eighth grade and attended high school in Lakefield, MN where she played on the volleyball team. Evelyn was a waitress at D-D Truck Stop and the Holiday Inn Motel. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, flower gardening, embroidering, playing bingo and bowling on a city league. She grew up in Lakefield, MN and Glenburn, ND. In 1966 she moved to Burlington, Iowa. Evelyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband Gordon of Burlington; three sons Gerald (Sharron) Palmer of Oquawka, IL, Stanley (Pauline) Palmer of Burlington and David (Tamera) Palmer of Indiana. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Ryan Cosgrove will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Prugh’s Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established for Trinity Lutheran Church.
