Obituary
Mr. Frank A. Olomon, 87, of West Burlington, died at 6:25 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Blair House Nursing and Rehab. Born May 25, 1924, in Gilchrist, Ill., he was the son of Ezra and Eleanor Robbins Olomon. On Sept. 7, 1948, he married Betty Gosling in West Burlington. She died on Aug. 21, 1976. Mr. Olomon was an Army veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star, European-African- Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star attachment, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Honorable Service lapel pin. He worked at Zaiser's Florist for 45 years, retiring in 1989, where he assisted in all facets of growing plants. He attended schools in Mercer, Knox, and Fulton Counties in Illinois. He was of the protestant faith, and was a member of Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Lowary of Burlington; two sons, Steve Olomon of Mountain Home, Ark., and David Olomon of Burlington; four brothers, Harold Olomon of St. Augustine, Ill., Richard Olomon of Abingdon, Ill., Glenn Olomon of Burlington, and Arnold Olomon of Eureka, Calif.; one sister Shirley Tadlock of Burlington; nine grandchildren; several geat-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, step- great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, where family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. The funeral service for Mr. Olomon will be 2:30 p.m. Monday in Lunning Chapel, with the Pastor Kendall Adams officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Blair House Activities Fund and the Special Needs Foundation.
