Richard Orwick, 70, of Blue Springs, MO, formerly of Burlington, died at 6:45 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2009, in Blue Springs. Born December 15, 1938, in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of Harry and Josephine Morrin Orwick. On December 4, 1998, he married Sharon Myers in Burlington. She died April 14, 2007. Mr. Orwick worked as quality control manager at Exide Company for 42 years. He was a Navy veteran. He loved attending baseball games, especially the Kansas City Royals and Burlington Bees. He also was a Kansas City Chiefs football fan. Survivors include four children, Mike Orwick of Blue Springs, Cathy Keeler and Patricia Pierce, both of Lee's Summit, MO, and Bryan Orwick of Independence, MO; four stepchildren, Kim Jarvis and Tamara Miller, both of Dallas City, IL, and Shanna Brown and Andrew Myers, both of Burlington; 18 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Jim Orwick of Texas; and one sister, Vicki Owen of Missouri. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. The funeral for Mr. Orwick will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dean Moberg officiating. Burial with military rites by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service. Memorials have been established for Hospice and American Cancer Society.
