Theodore "Ted" Orris, age 88 of Burlington passed away at 7:00 AM Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at the Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.
Born September 7, 1913 in Matthews, Missouri he was the son of Estes and Vanna Jenkins Orris. He married Evelyn May Bullard February 14, 1943 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was a graduate of Fairfield High School.
He had been in the Civil Conservation Corps. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army anti Aircraft Unit in World War II. He was a guard at the Fort Madison State Penitentiary; he worked for Drake Hardware at the city desk. He was of the Methodist faith. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles. He was a professional drummer and singer in his own band for 27 years.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; one daughter, Teresa Minami of Eagle, Colorado; one step daughter Marion Starr of Quincy, IL; one step son James Bohenekamp of Fort Madison; one granddaughter, Kimberley Chambers of Eagle, Colorado; two great grandchildren; six step grandchildren; several step great grandchildren and several step great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, three sisters and one niece.
