Orville "Ole" A. Olson, 79, of Burlington, died at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 1996, at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Born Aug. 4, 1917, in Montevideo, Minn., he was the son of Severin and Aagot Kiland Olson. On June 11, 1942, he married Harriette L. Wenzel in Burlington. Mr. Olson was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a 1938 graduate of Willmar High School in Willmar, Minn., and a graduate of College of Commerce in Burlington. He worked at Iowa Ordnance Plant in Middletown from 1941 to 1943. He was a shoe salesman for International Shoe Company and later for Neff Shoe Store in Burlington. He was a member of First Congregational Church of Burlington and former church chairman of Diaconate Board. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard W. Olson of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., and Thomas S. Olson of Chicago; one daughter, Jeanne Brockway of Burlington; six grandchildren; two nieces; three nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one daughter. Visitation will begin after 8 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Olson will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Roy C, Backus officiating. A memorial has been established for First Congregational Church and American Lung Association.
