Rosemary Olson, 79, of Burlington, died at 3:40 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born March 28, 1932, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Edwin Harold and Marguerite Lucille Bonar Schmidt. On October 31, 1953, she married Marston Dean "Ole" Olson in Burlington. He died May 4, 2010. Mrs. Olson worked as an operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone, and for 26 years as a medical secretary for Dr. Robert Todd. She later worked 11 years for J.S. Schramm Co., and at Stoermers, both in Burlington. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1949. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Ruth Zartman Circle and Alter Guild, and several church committees. She was a member of Questers 284, and charter member of Jr. Women's Club, winning the 1961 Outstanding Woman of the Year award. She enjoyed flower gardening, crafts, and time with her grandchildren. Survivors include three sons, Scott Olson and Todd Olson, both of Burlington, and Gregg Olson of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Paula Johnson of Warrenton, VA; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Ronald Schmidt and Richard Schmidt, both of Burlington; one sister, Shirley Schnedler of Burlington; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Burlington. The body has been cremated. The memorial service for Mrs. Olson will be at 10:30 Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Erick Swanson officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A time of food and fellowship will be at Trinity Lutheran Church following burial. Memorials have been established for Trinity Lutheran Church and Great River Hospice House. Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.
