Alta Marie "Jonni" Oakley, 86, of Bloomington, Indiana and formerly of Burlington, IA, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Garden Villa in Bloomington. Born October 24, 1921, in Winfield, IA, she was the daughter of Harley W. and Bertha (Stevens) Butcher. Alta moved to Bloomington in February, 2007, to be with her family. Jonni was a secretary for Cady Insurance in Burlington, IA. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and being with her family and friends. Survivors include a nephew, Virgil L. Robertson; three nieces, Linda L. Pate and her husband Charlie, Judy Gonterman and her husband Norman, and Lana R. Branum and her husband John all of Bloomington; 20 great nieces and nephews; 38 great-great nieces and nephews. Jonni was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Willis P. Oakley (2001); her parents; one sister, Louis Robertson; one niece, Connie June Jones; a nephew, Gary D. Robertson; and two great nephews. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008, at the Lunning Chapel in Burlington, IA, with visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Internment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p. m. Thursday, October 9, 2008, at the Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Rd. #37 in Bloomington.
