Shirley Eileen Nyberg passed away on May 2, 2015 in Lincoln at the age of 88. Shirley grew up in Burlington, Iowa and graduated from Burlington High School in 1945. She earned a degree in nursing and worked as a registered nurse and administrator at the Burlington Hospital for more than 25 years. In 1951, Shirley married Harold Nyberg. Later, she moved with her family to Walton. Faith and family were important to Shirley who cared for others her entire life. Living in the Lincoln area for the last 20 years she provided in-home care for the elderly.
Shirley is survived by her son Randall Nyberg and his wife Judy of Polk City, Iowa; her daughter Dr. Deborah Davidson and her husband Peter of Walton; her grandchildren Courtney Chatz and her husband Brett of Clearwater, Fla.; Zachary Davidson of Walton; and her sister Diane Lewis of Mandeville, La. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy Lewis and Harold Nyberg.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on May 20, at First United Methodist, 421 Washington Street, Burlington, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to HoriSun Hospice, 3883 Normal Blvd., Suite 108, Lincoln NE 68506
