Donald Ray Norton Sr., 84, of Burlington, died at 4;45 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2002, at his home. Born June 19, 1918, in Washington County, he was the son of Charles Franklin and Gertrude Blick Norton, In June 1939, he married Annis Nelson. She died June 11, 1983. On Dec. 7, 1985, he married Rosemary Regnier in Burlington. She preceded him in death. Mr. Norton was a car man with Burlington Northern Railraod for 30 years. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed woodworking and cooking. Survivors include one son, Donald Norton, Jr., of Burlington; three daughters, Patricia Hart of Lomax, Il., Donna Runion of Orange County, Ca., and Marjorie Lox of Burlington; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; four brothers, Dale Norton and Clarence Norton, both of Burlington, and Melvin Norton of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Pearl Moser of Burlington and Opal Beanblossom of Washington, Iowa; one brother-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wives, he was preceded in death by his patents, one brother, one sister, two grandchildren and on great-grandchild. There will be no visitation. A memorial service for Mr. Norton will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Riverside Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles Stevens officiating, Memorials have been established for Riverside Baptist Church, Lee County Hospice and Great Rive Hospice. Prugh Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
