Bernard R. "Nick" "Bernie" Nixon, 74, of Burlington, died at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at his home. Born Feb. 12, 1926, in Bonaparte, he was the son of Rex and Esther Mitchell Nixon. He married Dorothy Robertson on Oct. 31, 1953, in Bonaparte. Mr. Nixon was a 1943 graduate of Bonaparte High School. He worked at Leopold Co., and Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. In 1991 he retired as warehouse receiving clerk at Antennacraft, after 14 years. He was of the Protestant faith. He was an avid reader and enjoyed the outdoors, especially mushroom hunting. Survivors include his wife; one son, Marvin Nixon of Burlington; one daughter, Mary Brewster of Bailey, Colo.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, one daughter, and one sister. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The graveside memorial service for Mr. Nixon will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. David Mixon officiating. A memorial has been established.
