Leola "Lee" Nichols, 80, of West Burlington, died on Saturday, April 18, 2009, at 12:50 a.m. in West Point Care Center, West Point, Iowa. She was born on May 14, 1928, in Burlington, the daughter of John Henry and Ethel Bidwell Cain. She married John J. Nichols on September 22, 1946, in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1998. She worked at Sylvania for 25 years, and then Midwest Biscuit before retirement. She enjoyed playing cards, watching TV and spending time with her family. She was a former member of the women's Auxiliary of Disabled Veterans. She was of the Christian faith. Survivors include four daughters, Connie (Bill) Raschendorfer of Burlington, Pat (Eldean) Anderson of West Burlington, Sharon Couchman of Ft. Madison, Pam (Mike) Hostetter of Milan, Missouri; one son, John (Barb) Nichols of Loveland, Colorado; 7 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; one brother, Lee Cain of Burlington; and one sister, Bonnie Miller of Dover, Delaware. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Lorene McNeil and Ethel Ehret; four brothers, Raymond, Robert, John and Frank; and one step-son, Jim Nichols. Funeral services for Leola "Lee" Nichols will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Prugh's Chapel. Pastor Tom Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Lee County Hospice.
