Obituary

Ruth Jones Beckman, 93, of Danville, died at 4:25 pm Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at her home.
Born Feb. 11, 1910, in Spring Run, Louisa County, she was the daughter of Clyde E. and Ester E. Bush, Jones. On Feb. 6, 1935, she married Max Beckman in Spring Run. He died on April 23, 2003.
Mrs. Beckman assisted her husband in their farming operation. She attended country school at Pitchin, graduated from Wyman High School in 1928, and attended Burlington Junior College.
She was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, the Danville United Methodist Women, serving four years as president, the Charity, Wesleyan, and Sunshine church circles, and the Embassy Club at Danville Bank. She was a 4-H leader for many years and a Sunday school teacher. She was an accomplished organist and pianist for churches and nursing homes and liked quilting.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Guffey of Danville; three sons, Phillip Beckman of Hampton, Ill., Larry Beckman of West Burlington and William (Bill) Beckman of Middletown; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, and one sister in infancy.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 pm Tuesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm.
The funeral for Mrs. Beckman will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Latta officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Great River Home Health Care and Danville United Methosided Church.
