Darlene Jean Newton, 76, of Burlington, died 7:05 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Great River Medical Center Klein Center.
Born on June 1, 1938 in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Edwin and Emma (Kuehnle) Johnson. She married Allen Newton on September 18, 1965 in Burlington. He died October 18, 2013.
Mrs. Newton was a homemaker. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and playing cards with her family.
Survivors include one daughter; Susan "Sue" (Ken) Jarrett of West Burlington; one son, Bruce Heckenberg of Washington State; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Phillip Heckenberg, one son Terry Heckenberg and one brother Howard Johnson and a sister Helen Perkins.
The funeral service for Mrs. Newton will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 11th in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. David Plooster will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
