Obituary

Max H. Beckman, 94, of Danville, died Wednesday morning, April 23, 2003, at his home.
Born June 24, 1908, in Prairie Grove, he was the son of William F. and Anna Mary Frances Pletcher Beckman. On Feb 6, 1935, he married Ruth Jones in Spring Run in Louisa County.
Mr. Beckman spent most of his life as a farmer.
He was a 1925 graduate of Danville High School. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Danville, Des Moines County Farm Bureau, and the Embassy Club at the Danville State Savings Bank.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Philip Beckman of Hampton, Ill., larry Bedman of West Burlington, and William(Bill) Beckman of Middletown; one daughter, Nancy Guffey of Danville; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Helen Taeger of West Burlington, Florence Landwehr of Burlington and Anna P. Heaton of Los Angeles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother in infancy, and one sister.
Visitation will begin after noon on Friday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm.
The funeral for Mr. Beckman will be at 10:30 am Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Latta officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for First United Methodist Church and Great River Home Health Care.
