Maxine Della Nelson, 90, of Burlington, died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at her home. Born July 31, 1919, in Mediapolis, she was the daughter of Arthur Charles and Eliza Downer Conn. Ms. Nelson worked as a nurse's assistant at Burlington Medical Center for 20 years, and as an aide at Klein Hospital, retiring in 1989. She also worked at Witte's Drug Store at the soda fountain for 10 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Burlington. She was a member of Woodman of the World. She enjoyed working in her flower garden, embroidering, and sitting as a companion with older people who were sick. Survivors include one son, Donald D. Nelson of Mission, Texas; one daughter, Shirley Agnew of Burlington; two grandchildren; one sister, Mary Meyer of Burlington; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and four sisters. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends. The graveside funeral for Ms. Nelson will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with the Rev. Roddy Tate officiating.
