Dorothy E. Beard, 89, of Burlington, died at 5:24 am Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, at Burlington Care Center.
Born July 4, 1915, in Burlington she was the daughter of Charles and Ida Schwerin Schroeder. On May 15, 1947, she married Harold E. Beard in Creston. He died Jan. 7, 1988.
Mrs. Beard was a secretary at the Burlington Basket Factory.
She was a graduate of Burlington High School and two years of business school. She was a member of First United Church of Christ. She enjoyed taking care of her home and garden, traveling to Chicago to watch the Cubs play, crafts, and crocheting.
Survivors include nieces, nephews, and several cousins.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and one brother.
There will be no family visitation. Friends may call after noon on Aug. 3, 2004.
The graveside service for Mrs. Beard will be at 10:30 am Wednesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating.
A memorial has been established for Burlington Care Center.
