Elizabeth "Betty" Murry, 89, of Burlington, died at 12:30 AM Sunday, March 13, 2011, at her niece's home in Burlington.
Born May 30, 1921, in Burlington, she was the daughter of William L. and Elizabeth E. Blum Seiberling. On August 19, 1972, she married Robert O. Murry in Burlington. He died September 26, 2000.
Betty worked at J.S. Schramm Co. for 25 years and was a homemaker.
She was a member of SS. John and Paul Catholic Church. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. She enjoyed knitting and belonged to a sewing club. She especially enjoyed her dog, Buster.
Survivors include one sister, Eileen (George) DeHague of Burlington; one brother, Richard (Marge) Seiberling of Burlington; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-niece. She dearly loved them all.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Seiberling.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for Mrs. Murry will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 18, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Very Rev. Father Anthony J. Herold as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. John's cafeteria following the interment.
Memorials have been established for SS. John and Paul Catholic Church, Des Moines County Humane Society and Great River Hospice.
