Lynda Murray, 73, of West Burlington, died at 6:14 PM Sunday, September 18, 2016, at the Great River Medical Center.
Born September 8, 1943, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Samuel Raymond and Frances Pearl Sturhahn Willson. On May 19, 1962, she married Dale Edward Murray in Burlington.
Lynda worked as a Food Service Supervisor for West Burlington Schools, where she retired after ten years.
She was a 1961 graduate of Burlington High School and Burlington Beauty Academy.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She enjoyed collecting antiques, flower gardens, reading, spending time with her family and pet dogs, Haddie, Hannah, Kara and Buddy, and was an active funeral luncheon provider at her church.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Mark Murray of West Burlington; two grandsons, Nick DeWitt of West Burlington, Brad (Kristie Weaver) DeWitt of Burlington, one granddaughter, Rachel Buchholz of Waverly; one sister, Betty Hightower of Burlington; several nieces and nephews; and a good friend of the family, Steve Willis of Mediapolis.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Jenny, one brother, Ray, and three sisters, Dorothy, Martha and May Ann.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Murray will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September 22, 2016, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Reverend David J. Yonker officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the church following the service.
Cremation will be entrusted to the Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory following the service.
Memorials have been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Des Moines County Animal Shelter.
