Marie Mabel Murray, 96, of Wheatridge, Colo., died at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Mountain Vista Health Care Center. Born Jan. 11, 1904, in Michigan, N.D., she was the daughter of Nels Henry and Rosa LillieBelle Wise Elvick. She married Jonathan Halsted Murray on Aug. 21, 1930, in Grand Forks, N.D. Mrs. Murray was a music teacher in North Dakota and Mattoon, Ill., and also a choir director for the Congregational Church in Burlington. She lived in Burlington from 1940 to 1991, when she moved to Colorado. She was a mbmer of Grade United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Fidelis Class of the church, PEO Chapter P, Delta Gamma at the University of North Dakota, King's Daughters, and the Treble Clef Club. She was a former board member of the Southeast Iowa Symphony and the PEO home in Mount Pleasant. She was director of the Mother Singers Group, a former Honorary Mother of Iowa, and an alumnae of the University of North Dakota. Survivors include four daughters, Marlis Laursoo of Golden, Colo., Shireen Jones of Ann Arbor, Mich., Helen Kegerreis of Huntington Station, N.Y., and Jeanette Armbrustmacher of Berlin, Germany; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchldren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, and three sisters. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church. The funeral for Mrs. Murray will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Trevor Davis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
