Mrs. Genevieve "Gen" Murray, 93, of Burlington died at 7:39 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living.
Born March 28, 1922 in Burlington, she was the daughter of John and Gertrude (Parks) Weissinger. On January 21, 1951 she married Henry L. Murray in Burlington. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2002.
She worked at Midwest Biscuit Company and in food service at Burlington High School. Mrs. Murray was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was a "card shark" and loved playing cards with the ladies. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, had a soft spot in her heart for animals and loved her granddaughters.
Survivors include one son, James (Dianna) Murray of Burlington and two grandchildren, Kendra (Hunter Cook) Murray of Johnson City, Tennessee and Kristen (Joe Roth) Murray of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.
The memorial funeral service for Mrs. Murray will be 9 a.m. Friday, April 3rd, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. David Bracht-Wagner officiating. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Des Moines County Humane Society.
Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
