Virginia Kathryn Murray, 101, of Burlington, died at her residence in Burlington, Iowa, on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at 6:50 a.m. Born on January 6, 1909, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Frank Bartlett and Lillian Carolyn Hansen Hunt. She married Harry Lee Murray on February 3, 1948, in Burlington, Iowa. He died on January 9, 1981. Virginia was a loving homemaker. She was a member of What So Ever Circle of Kings Daughters, and served 30 years on the executive board of the Kings Daughters. She was also a member of Des Moines Co. Historical Society, Heritage Trust, Art Guild of Burlington, Burlington Golf Club, and Crystal Lake Club. She was a 50-year member of Pyramid Temple H 10, Daughters of the Nile, Davenport, Iowa, Iowa Study Club, and Iowa Wesleyan College Benefactor. She enjoyed music, traveling, the Great River Excursion Boats, and spending time at their cabin on the Mississippi River. She was also a conservationist. Her family was the pioneer Hunt family who settled in Des Moines County in 1853. Her grandfather farmed at Hunt Woods. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Ruth Hunt of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and twin brother, Harold Bartlett Hunt. Funeral services for Virginia Kathryn Murray will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Prugh's Chapel. Rev. Erick Swanson will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. No formal visitation is planned. Friends may call from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Prugh's Chapel.
