Walter Roy Mundt, 72, of Burlington, died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at University Hospitals in Iowa City. Born lnov. 23, 1925, in Burlington, he was the son of Carl and Mary Martsching. He married Betty J. Schulz on oct. 16, 1946. Mr. mundt was an Army veteran of World War II. He was owner of Mundt Piano and Organ Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed his family, spending time on the river and traveling. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Marilyn Fehrmann of Albuquerque, N.M., Janet Manning of Orlando, Fla., and Joyce Bennett of Twin Lake, Mich.; one son, Gary Mundt of Lakenheath, England; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Cedarburg of Leona Valley, Calif., Helen Muehlbauer of West Burlington and Gladys Mundt of Burlington; one brother, William Mundt of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel. where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Munday will be at 10:30 Thursday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
