Ralph "Bud" William Mower, 90, of Burlington, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born October 2, 1916, in Burlington, he was the son of Edward H. and Alice M. Wagner Mower. On May 3, 1940, he married Mildred Agnes Nuss. He served for 19 years as a Burlington firefighter. He owned and operated the Robo Carwash. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Eagles, Cascade Boating Club and Blackhawk Hunting and Fishing Club. He was a Cardinal fan and past member of Ed's Big Island Club and Sportsman Hunting Club. He was a league bowler for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mildred, of Burlington; one son, Ronald (Nancy) Mower of Burlington; two daughters, Sharon (Jim) Martindale of Burlington and Carol (Doug) Moss of Urbandale; five grandchildren, Cathi, Greg, Brian, Tyier and Amy; 11 great-grandchildren, Brett, Holly, Brian, Nicholas, Braydon, Abbey, Samantha, Tyier, Reagan, Kylan and Rykan; three step-great-grandchildren, Sydney, Welsey and Marcus; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Edward and Paul, two sisters, Mary Larkins and Helen White, and one grandson, Jeff Martindale. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will be present to greet friends from 6 until 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Mower will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Hope Haven Area Development Center and Great River Medical Center Hospice.
