Lowell Aris Mott, 86, of Keokuk and formerly of Burlington and Hamilton, Ill., died at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Keokuk area Hospital in Keokuk. Born August 27, 1921, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert Osman and Lucille Ethel McLellan Mott. On September 30, 1956, he married Gertrude I. Edwards in Bloomfield. She died February 8, 1981. Mr. Mott and his wife ran the Depot Tavern in Hamilton. He worked at TP&W Railroad, Leopold Desk in Burlington and Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Burlington. He was a member of Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include one sister, Betty Jane Rader of Lodi, Calif.; nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. No visitation is planned. The graveside memorial service for Mr. Mott will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with the Rev. Erick Swanson officiating. A memorial has been established.
